Industrifonden invests in QuiQom Systems

Stockholm, Sweden: Industrifonden is investing in QuiQom Systems, which develops new solutions for inexpensive, high-speed broadband access in residential properties. The money will be used to expand the company's marketing.

QuiQom (www.quiqom.com) has developed a technology that uses the existing central antenna system in multifamily housing to distribute high-performance broadband and IPTV to the building's apartments. QuiQom thereby provides individual properties/apartments access to the speed and quality that only broadband can offer at a reasonable cost. With QuiQom's technology, the property owner can easily connect to the fiber cable that already runs near the property. The subscriber's modem can be connected through any antenna jack in their apartment.

The patented Q-LAN technology, which was introduced in 2005, leverages the unused frequency spectrum in the coaxial network already used for cable TV. QuiQom's products give subscribers up to 100 Mbit/s of broadband entertainment per apartment, but the technology has greater potential and the next generation of products is aiming at about 300 Mbit/s. At these speeds, operators who choose QuiQom's solution will be able to offer both traditional Triple Play (i.e., Internet, telephony and television) and high-definition (HD) IPTV.

"QuiQom has a unique technology, a finished product and an experienced team," says Magnus Fransson, Investment Manager at Industrifonden. "Taken together, this gives the company the potential to reach a large international market."

Industrifonden's investment gives Stockholm-based QuiQom the opportunity to expand its marketing activities in Sweden and the rest of Europe. It already has a number of installations in Sweden.

"We are very pleased to have such a stable, long-term investor like Industrifonden," says Arne Ljungdahl, Chief Executive Officer of QuiQom Systems. "This enables us to expand more quickly, particularly in Europe."
